Handcut leather with hand-drawn “shrinky dinks”
I’ve been working at getting a collection of my earrings packaged and ready to go for this Monday. I’m meeting with someone from a new gallery near my hometown to give her some product for her store and talk about going there to install my giant crochet tree sculpture from two years ago into a new space in the next couple...

jewelry class
Hi! This is what I made in the jewelry class I was taking. The pendant is silver with a labradorite gemstone with a technique called chasing to make the designs around the stone. The chain is 21.9 m of beading wire, It is now 1.2 m… the technique I used is called viking knit, which is very similar to the corking process you would use with yarn for doing tubular knitting. I now...

Embroidered plastic pop bottles with leather leaves, I’ve been cutting out the pieces at home then doing the stitching on the train to/from work. I keep showing up at work with holes in my fingertips because some of the leather is pretty tough to stitch through, but its worth it.

shrinky dink fun
I’ve been playing with making shrinky dinks lately, if you’ve never heard of them you should look them up because they are really easy and fun. Basically they are plastic sheets you can buy and draw on then shrink in the oven. They shrink to 1/3 its size.
These are the real store bought ones, your image shrinks perfectly and if you use a regular size hole-punch the hole shrinks to the...

New earrings! made up of metal bottle caps, handcut leather scraps, scrap fabric, grommets, seed beads, and green plastic bottles
I’ve gone to two jewelry classes so far and am now thinking about jewelry designs all the time. I want to figure out what I want to learn about the most in the class since it isn’t very long. So far we’ve been shown wire bending, soldering, making...

leaf me alone
Happy Holidays Everyone! I’m thrilled that Christmas is now over for another year.
I’ve been working on some new ideas for earrings using green plastic pop bottles and some craft feathers. I’m loving the transparency of the plastic. I bought a tiny exacto knife that fits in the palm of my hand- its amazing for small detail cutting.
starting mid January I’m taking a...

This is the cover pages of my current sketchbook, the faces on the left (back) page is a sticker my lil brother Benjamin made- I’m going to make a post about his artwork soon, he’s pretty amazing. On the right (front) page is an ongoing collage of feathers either found somewhere or created by me. I like to make a photo record of it as its always developing, who knows what it will...

Flower of Life
I was able to do a lot conceptual work on this piece and planned it all out to make it symmetrical and balanced. Which made it was easy for me to calculate how much of each of the materials I used in total:
66 pop tabs, 68 wine bottle lids, 26 bread-tags, 40 toilet paper rolls, 28 Danactive bottles, 84 yogurt cups, 23 lightbulbs, 20 bottle seals, 12 plastic drink bottles,...
